Woke up bright and early to make the 7:15 practice session. There was a heavy dew overnight, and a light fog. The track was very wet and cold. This would prove dangerous later in the session. Ron got out early to try a new line through the esses with an advanced shift point. The new shift point and turn in returned a 2 second lap advantage. The Takata Time Attack car had been put back together overnight, and looked like it would be ready for the time attack. As the sun rose, the dew evaporated with the exception of areas in shadow. The first fatality was a white Modified EG Civic who went off into turn 3, most of the damage was cosmetic, and he drove the car home. Shortly after, the Takata car was going down the back straight, went into the braking zone and flew off the crest at the end of the stright, into a tire wall. This ended the Takata cars day, and prevented the driver from running in that car during the timed session.
The second timed event of the weekend started shortly after practice. The pavement still had dew in the shadows. The first group went out and had 2 fatailties. The Modified Honda s2000 also went off in turn 3 or 4, heavily damaging the drivers side. Later that session, Bill got 2 hot laps in before his engine let go, also in turn 3. Ron went out in group 3 and was able to get some decent times. James of the Takata Time Attack car had arranged to drive the Crawford Performance modified class 2008 STI, and was able to pull a good time.
The timed session came to an end, and the Super Session began. This is a wheel-to-wheel style format event, with a warm up lap at 65mph, and when passing the start-finish the checkered flag is thrown. Coming into the start-finish line, the RASpec began experiencing the fuel starvation issues that were problematic all weekend, and he took the car into the pits.
The award ceremony was held at the patriot course at 2:30pm. Bill ended up taking home 3rd place in Unlimited Rear-wheel drive. Ron took home 2nd place in Modified All-Wheel drive.
We headed home, and are staying in a Fairfield Inn in Delaware.

Arrived at the track at 7:30, had a quick drivers meeting, followed by a practice session from 7:45 to 8:55. Rons car was handling well, but he didn’t push it in order to conserve tires. Bill took to the track a bit later.
From 11:20 to 12:00 the official timed sessions for the Redline Time Attack were held. This was the first of 2 timed sessions. Bill had an issue with the cooling system and had to pit in after only 1/2 lap. Ron continued out, and eventually caught up to a civic in front.
After the time attack event, Ron was a driver for the GT Simulation Race. This event puts spectators into time attack cars in order to provide a race-like experience.
Later in the day Bill worked on his car, eventually getting some time on the dyno on location. The car performed well, outputting 384whp. His initial claims of “OVER 600HP” were exaggerations of the most epic proportions.
Finally, the team headed over to watch the drift competition finals and the Grand Am Cup 6 hour enduro series.

We arrived at the hotel in South Boston, Virginia at 5am. Got a few hours of sleep, and headed to the track at 09:00. Drivers meeting, unloaded the vehicles. Paddock setup and tool setup and organization. Ron took the RASpec out at the start of the practice session. After a few laps, he came into the pits to note some setup changes that were needed (lower angle of attack of rear wing, adjust side mirrors, increase tire pressure in rear by 2 psi). Later in the session the RASpec was experiencing fuel starvation issues. The source of these problems occurs in high G-Force cornering when fuel is pulled away from the fuel pickup. As an interim solution, more fuel will need to be run.
Bill got out on track roughly 15 minutes after Ron. Adjustments were needed to the wastegate spring, and software updates will be needed for the ECU.
The practice session was only 1.5 hours, and the rest of the day was left to paddock setup and misc car setup.
