DSG Takes Unlimited Victory at GT Live

The DSG 240RS Maxi takes 1st Place in Unlimited RWD Again

After a week of ups and downs at both Redline Summit Point and GTLive @ VIR, DSG’s Bill Washburn and the 240RS Maxi took home the Unlimited RWD class victory.

Both Alex and Bill had issues at Summit Point. After months of intermittant overheating, Alex’s headgasket finally let go and limited him to one lap sessions around the track. A warped cylinder head turned out to be the main culprit and the following week would see Alex removing the head, having it machined and installing a new Ralliart gasket (thanks to Dan @ Mach V).

Bill managed to put the Maxi off into the wall @ Summit Point. The front end was more or less destroyed. A sledge hammer and duct tape proved to be the savinggrace in piecing the car back together for the timed session. Thanks to Matt Koestner (who was on board when Bill nosed the car into the wall) and Nick Grabau, the car made it back on track for three laps and some air born action.

Thanks to some kind people (Burak Tuglu and Piper Motorsports) Bill was able to piece together a front end before GT Live and take home a victory out of two timed laps.

Victory! But no prize money this year. The season is over for the Maxi. Rebuilding of the front end and a new manifold, turbos setup for 450whp will be worked on as well. The handling is finally getting close to where Bill wants so a power increase is in effect.

Alex and the Evo will be gunning for an FTD and a sub-1:15 @ NHIS this weekend @ COM. Stay Tuned!
